POSITION TITLE: Automotive Services Technician Instructor – Day Release Apprenticeship


STATUS: Part Time

SALARY: $50 to $60 per hour (dependant on experience)

EFFECTIVE DATE: Jan 29, 2018

DIVISION: Apprenticeship, Northern Training

CAMPUS: Timmins

CLOSING DATE: Dec. 13, 2017

DUTIES: Teach such courses as: Engine Systems, Electrical/Electronic and Emissions, Drive Trains; Steering, Suspension and Brakes, and HVAC.


Certificate of Qualification—Automotive Service Technician, or related.

A minimum of three years of additional related experience.

Successful teaching experience in a diverse educational environment preferred.

Other trades/safety qualifications are an asset.

Strong computer skills would be considered an asset.

In addition to teaching assigned courses, the successful candidate will be expected to:

Possess good written and oral communication skills.

Create a positive teaching and learning environment.

Demonstrate strong leadership skills, visionary capacity and commitment to positive community development.

Use a variety of teaching/learning strategies in a multi-delivery mode setting.

Provide leadership in a multicultural classroom.

Evaluate student achievement of learning outcomes with a variety of approaches and techniques.

Develop and revise appropriate learning resources.

Establish effective communications among students and colleagues.

Function as an effective team member.

Proof of valid WHMIS/WHMIS Review card is a requirement for employment with Northern College.
