PROJECT CO-ORDINATOR (Contract Position) (Public Utilities Department) (Competition No.: PWE-2018-01)

Contract • Timmins Region

Reporting to the Public Utilities Manager, the Project Co-ordinator manages and administers moderate to high complexity construction, professional services and service contracts for Wastewater Treatment and Water Treatment Divisions.  The projects generally include a substantial amount of mechanical, electrical and instrumentation elements, as well as civil, structural and architectural work. The incumbent engages daily with contractors, consultants and Department stakeholders about quality of work, interpretation of contract documents, scope changes, progress claim reviews and other issues. The incumbent addresses contract management risks within delegate authority. Ensures integration of activities with site teams. 

DUTIES: 

  • Manage and administer contracts to ensure work performed complies with contractual requirements and quality specifications;
  • Coordinate and solve day-to-day contract requirements;
  • Carry-out periodic field inspections for general quality assurance purposes;
  • Maintain site activity records (eg photos, project documentation, etc);
  • Ensure quality standards are met, in line with corporate, departmental expectations, and contract documents;
  • Coordinate consultant construction reviews;
  • Participate with commissioning activities;
  • Monitor and control schedules;
  • Manage contract financials and contract risk;
  • Liaise with the Department stakeholders regarding project issues, risks, contemplated change orders, etc;
  • Provide functional direction and advice to Department stakeholders and to Client partners;
  • Ensure health and safety, and environmental compliance;
  • Carry-out other duties as directed by the Public Utilities Manager.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Formal Education and Experience
    • Minimum: college diploma in engineering, applied science or related field with seven (7) years’ relevant experience, or equivalent;
    • Preferred: Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical, Electrical or Civil Engineering

 

  • General and Specific Knowledge
    • Best practices, methods, trends, and legislation in construction
    • Construction, product, and materials
    • Project, contract, and risk management principles

 

  • Abilities:
    • Use applicable computer software and operating systems;
    • Interpret drawings and specifications;
    • Apply project, contract and risk management techniques to construction and consultant contracts;

 

SALARY: In accordance with the Non-Union Remuneration System
