POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Director of the Nation Rebuilding Initiative Department, the responsibilities of the UNDRIP Action Plan Coordinator include overall planning, community engagement and implementation of Mushkegowuk Council’s UNDRIP Action Plan Coordination Project. The overall goal will be to facilitate regional and community engagement and discussions regarding the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, to prepare a submission setting out Omushkego perspectives on UNDRIP, the UNDRIP Act and UNDRIP Action Plan.

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Post-secondary education in Indigenous Studies, Political Science, Justice, or minimum 2-3 years of related work experience in the Governance field.
  • Knowledge of UNDRIP, UNDRIP Act, Treaty #9, Indigenous Treaty and Inherent Rights, and Crown-Indigenous relationships.
  • Knowledge of Mushkegowuk communities, including socio-economic, political structure, culture and traditions.
  • Coordinating information gathering and dissemination and documenting results of information collection
  • Previous experience in project coordination, scheduling and project management
  • Experience planning activities and events at the community and regional levels
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Must be computer literate, including excellent working skills of Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel and Outlook.
  • Available to work flexible hours, including some evenings and/or weekends.
  • Completion of criminal background check (CPIC).
  • Must have a valid Ontario Driver’s License and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to speak Cree is an asset.
