Case Manager – Fort Albany Women’s Shelter
About the Role
The Fort Albany Women’s Shelter is seeking a Case Manager to support women and families who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. This position focuses on housing stability, prevention, and long-term wellness, while honouring Cree culture and wholistic healing practices.
This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about Indigenous-led solutions, trauma-informed care, and supporting women on their healing and housing journeys.
Key Responsibilities
· Provide housing-focused case management to prevent homelessness and support housing stability
· Support clients to secure and maintain safe, appropriate housing
· Assist clients with accessing income supports, health, mental health, and community services
· Develop individualized housing and wellness plans
· Integrate trauma-informed, culturally safe, and wholistic healing approaches
· Support Cree cultural practices such as talking circles, Elder engagement, and land-based activities (client-led)
· Maintain accurate case notes and complete required
· Provide crisis support and safety planning as required
Qualifications
Required:
· Diploma or Degree in Social Work, Human Services, Indigenous Studies, Mental Health, or related field
· Experience working with individuals facing homelessness, housing instability, or family violence
· Strong understanding of trauma-informed and client-centred practice
· Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries
Assets:
· Indigenous identity or lived experience (strongly valued)
· Knowledge of Cree culture, traditions, and healing practices
· Experience working in shelters, transitional housing, or northern/remote communities
· Familiarity with housing stability programs
· Cree language skills
