Schedule: 14/7 Rotation, 14 days on followed by 7 days off.
Hours: 12-hour shifts
Rate of Pay: Hourly rate, exceeding industry standards.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Northern Sun Mining currently has an exciting opportunity for a Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team. Reporting to the Shift Supervisor, this position is responsible for safely and efficiently operating heavy equipment to support construction activities at the mine site. This includes excavation, grading, earthmoving, and site preparation while adhering to company and regulatory safety standards.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, dozers, loaders, graders, haul trucks and compactors.
- Perform site preparation, road maintenance, trenching and earthmoving tasks.
- Follow project plans, blueprints, and grade specifications.
- Conduct pre-operational inspections and perform routine maintenance checks on equipment.
- Work collaboratively with site supervisors, and other crew members.
- Identify and report any mechanical issues or safety hazards.
- Maintain accurate logs of equipment usage and maintenance activities.
- Work in compliance with prescribed company policies and procedures.
- Be proactive with company safety initiatives.
- Additional tasks as assigned by the Shift Supervisor and/or management.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of 1 year of experience operating heavy equipment in a construction or mining environment.
- Valid equipment operator certifications.
- Surface Common Core is an asset.
- Valid driver’s license
- Knowledge of mine safety regulations and procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, site plans, and grade stakes.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Physically fit to work in a demanding outdoor environment.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented and fast-paced setting.
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights and weekends if required.
