Instrument Porter

 Temporary Part-Time

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Surgical Services, this individual will be responsible to porter instruments and medical devices to and from the Operating room and MDRD (SPD).

Position Responsibilities:

• Porter instruments and medical devices to and from the OR and SPD.
• To maintain strict confidentiality of hospital and patient information in accordance with hospital policies.
• To ensure a healthy and safe working environment in accordance with Occupational Health and Safety guidelines.
• To participate in quality improvement initiatives.
• To participate actively in the hospital and unit education/in-services.
• To maintain a positive image in relation to your work both on and off the unit.
• To perform other duties as assigned.
• To establish and maintain good working relationships with departmental staff, medical staff and all other hospital employees.

Position Requirements:

• Must possess the ability to provide effective services to clients/patients in both English and French.
• Must possess a grade 12 education and the ability to read and write in English and be mechanically inclined.
• Must possess physical capacity to stand and walk within a limited area most of the working day, to handle supplies and equipment of moderate and heavy weight, to travel short and long distances in the hospital and stoop and bend when storing and issuing supplies. Must be able to stand for long periods.
• Must have and be able to demonstrate good organizational skills, communication skills and interpersonal skills.
• Must be alert: possess a good memory, pleasant personality and use tact and diplomacy.
• ·Must possess a willingness to perform simple, repetitive tasks on a continuous basis and under conditions of continuous interruptions.
• Ability to be flexible and adapt quickly to an unpredictable caseload and fast paced environment is required.
• Must be able to demonstrate the ability to multi-task, be self-directed, able to work with minimal supervision and work well under pressure.
• Employment history which demonstrates regular attendance at work.
• Ability to work with a multidisciplinary team.
• Starting salary of $25.76/hour; $50,232.00/year range to $27.20/hour; $53,040.00/year
• All TADH staff members must follow the COVID-19 vaccination series in accordance with the most up-to-date vaccine guidance provided by the Ontario Ministry of Health.
