Salary Range: $40,000 - $60,000
A hotel maintenance worker involves performing preventative maintenance, responding to emergency repairs, troubleshooting mechanical issues, maintaining building systems like plumbing and electrical, ensuring the functionality and safety of all hotel facilities, and keeping accurate records of maintenance activities, all while prioritizing guest comfort and operational efficiency; essentially, ensuring the hotel property remains in optimal condition through routine inspections, repairs, and upkeep.
Key responsibilities may include:
- Preventative maintenance:
Regularly inspecting and servicing hotel equipment like HVAC systems, plumbing fixtures, electrical outlets, elevators, and appliances to prevent breakdowns. - Emergency repairs:
Promptly responding to urgent maintenance requests such as leaks, power outages, broken doors, malfunctioning appliances, and addressing them efficiently. - Basic repairs:
Performing minor repairs like fixing leaky faucets, replacing light bulbs, patching walls, adjusting doors, and repairing minor electrical issues. - General upkeep:
Maintaining cleanliness of common areas, including hallways, stairwells, and exterior grounds. - Inventory management:
Keeping track of maintenance supplies and tools, ordering replacements as needed. - Documentation:
Maintaining detailed records of maintenance activities, including work orders, repairs completed, and inspection reports. - Collaboration with other departments:
Coordinating with housekeeping, front desk, and other departments to identify and address maintenance needs. - Safety compliance:
Adhering to safety regulations and procedures while performing maintenance tasks.
Skills and qualifications:
- Basic understanding of plumbing, electrical, HVAC systems, and general building maintenance
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues
- Handyman skills with tools and equipment
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks
- Good communication skills to interact with guests and staff
- Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting heavy objects
