Manager, Sports Facilities & Recreation (26-25)

Reporting to the Executive Director, Marketing, Communications and External Relations, the Manager, Sports Facilities and Recreation will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Northern College Sports Dome Fieldhouse, Timmins campus gymnasium, and Pub and is accountable and responsible for providing planning, development and operational leadership for the Sports Dome and Gym.

What you will be doing:

  • Determine work priorities, approve student staff schedules and supervise support personnel
  • related to the sports dome, gymnasium and pub activities;
  • Develop, implement and direct innovative strategies for program and operational issues, manage technical change and prepare office operations to undertake significant projects;
  • Collaborate with personnel to continuously improve, and revise sports and recreation activities and services, with a focus on the future direction of the Sports Dome and Fieldhouse;
  • Provide strategic input into sport and recreation program offerings based on local demand and community needs;
  • Create and support club development (student intramural activities as suggested and collaborated with NCSA);
  • Compile, track, verify, invoices, cash receipts, bank deposits as needed for memberships, leagues, camps and rentals;
  • Identify revenue generating opportunities in the catchment area; respond to Requests for proposals (RFPs);
  • Recruit and train students and staff for the Sports Dome and gymnasium operations, including but not limited to, front desk services, janitorial services, etc.; and
  • Ensure adequate staffing and operations run according to approved policies and procedures.

What you will need to be considered:

  • Three (3) year Diploma in Sports and Recreation, Business Marketing, Facility Management, Hospitality and Tourism Management or related/relevant field of study;
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field of study is an asset;
  • 5 (five) years of management and/or coordinator experience with leading project management, events planning, sports and recreation activities experience, supervisor experience, understanding of amateur recreational activities and sports, and budgeting experience;
  • Demonstrated experience with software for implementing scheduling for student programs, activities, community leagues, rental etc.; and
  • Flexible schedule to work some evenings and weekends as required.

The successful candidate will be proficient with Microsoft Suite, have effective conflict resolution, mediation, problem solving, and consensus building skills, and excellent verbal and written communication skills. As well as Crisis Response and management skills and experience.
