Personal Support Worker

Vacancy Details:    Permanent Position - until June 26, 2025

​District School Board Ontario North East is looking for a Personal Support Worker to provide support for a student with special needs at Schumacher Public School.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Assist the student with activities of daily living (feeding, lifts and transfers, skin care, oral hygiene, and toileting)
• Execute the student’s care plan related to the complex medical needs (proper established care for student in the event of seizures and other health related needs)
• Assist with medication related to student’s complex medical needs
• Assist in occupational and physiotherapy strategies as directed by school personnel and the care plan
• Continuously observe the student in the school environment (must report and document unsafe conditions and behavioural, physical, and/or cognitive changes)
• Meet the safety needs of the client and use equipment safely and properly
• Function within the limits of your own experience and knowledge, while practicing safely and competently within the job description
• Complete records and documentation accurately and thoroughly
• May be required to assist with the transport of the student (while on a school bus) from home address to school in the morning and from school to the home following the school day

Position Requirements

• Personal Support Worker (PSW) certificate
• Criminal records check with Vulnerable Sector Screening that is less that 6 months old at time of hire
• Related experience with children with special needs
