 About the West Cache Gold Project

Galleon Gold’s West Cache Gold Project is an advanced-stage gold exploration and development project located west of Timmins, Ontario—one of Canada’s most established mining jurisdictions. As the project progresses toward development, environmental stewardship and regulatory compliance are central to our commitment to responsible resource extraction.

 Position Overview

The Mine Site Environmental Technician plays a key role in supporting environmental monitoring, compliance, and reporting activities at the West Cache site. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys fieldwork, values environmental protection, and wants to contribute to the responsible development of a modern mining project.

You’ll work closely with the Environmental Coordinator, site operations, consultants, and regulatory bodies to ensure that all environmental programs are implemented effectively and meet provincial and federal requirements.

 Salary

 Between $60,000 to $75,000 annually.

 Key Responsibilities

Environmental Monitoring & Sampling

• Conduct routine field sampling, including:
  • Surface water and groundwater
  • Effluent and discharge points
  • Soil, sediment, and dust fall
  • Wildlife and vegetation observations
• Maintain, calibrate, and operate environmental monitoring equipment.

Regulatory Compliance

• Support compliance with:
  • Ontario Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP) requirements
  • Ministry of Mines (MNDMNRF) permitting conditions
• Assist with inspections, audits, and documentation for permits, approvals, and closure plans.

Data Management & Reporting

• Record, organize, and validate environmental data in databases and spreadsheets.
• Prepare summary reports, field logs, and technical documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
• Support the preparation of annual environmental reports and submissions.

Site Support & Environmental Protection

• Conduct site inspections related to:
  • Erosion and sediment control
  • Waste management and spill prevention
  • Fuel storage and hazardous materials handling
• Participate in spill response and emergency preparedness activities.
• Promote environmental awareness among site personnel and contractors.

Qualifications & Experience

• Diploma or degree in Environmental Technology, Environmental Science, Natural Resources, or a related field.
• 1–3 years of experience in environmental fieldwork, preferably in mining, exploration, or industrial settings.
• Familiarity with Ontario environmental regulations and mining-related permitting is an asset.
• Valid Ontario driver’s licence and ability to work in remote field conditions.
• Strong computer skills (Excel, GIS, data management).
• Ability to work independently, outdoors, and in all weather conditions.
