Registered Practical Nurse (RPN)
Located in Timmins, Ontario Jubilee Centre is a community-based agency offering specialized live-in addiction & mental health services (concurrent disorders) in a safe home-like therapeutic community environment. We are currently seeking Registered Practical Nurses to complement our multidisciplinary client care team on the Intensive Treatment & Rehabilitation Unit and on the MH Crisis & WMS Unit.
Summary of Duties & Responsibilities Reporting to the Nursing Supervisor/Nurse Practitioner your duties and responsibilities include the ability and commitment to safely implement all in-scope aspects of evidence based nursing care, services and supports in alignment with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) Professional Standards and organizational values and priorities.
Qualifications:
Is a registered as a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) and a member in good standing with CNO preferred, or
has successfully completed their formal RPN program and are Candidates to the Profession, or
Is registered as a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) and a member in good standing with a Nursing regulatory body in another Canadian jurisdiction and willing to re-locate;
Current B.C.L.S. (CPR) certificate;
Nursing experience within a specialized mental health & addiction setting preferred;
Computer literacy: Experience with data entry, Microsoft Office, Electronic Health Records and Electronic Medication Management.

Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills and competency in assessing, monitoring, and documenting of behaviours associated with Mental health and substance-related disorders; trauma-responsive behaviours; mental status and physical health status; client response to pharmaceutical interventions;
Demonstrates motivation to develop knowledge and skills required to provide care in alignment with the treatment modalities employed at the agency.
Demonstrates flexibility, adaptability and a strong willingness, readiness and ability to work rotating shifts and weekends;
Demonstrates a passion for providing care to people struggling with co-occurring mental and substance use disorders and is familiar with the fundamentals of a trauma-informed, seeking safety and equity-based model of care;
Possesses an excellent sense of humour and demonstrates ability to remain calm and in control under potentially stressful situations;
Demonstrates good knowledge of Harm Reduction and Recovery Models of Care;
Demonstrates strong problem-solving, organization skills and ability to work effectively with an interdisciplinary team and independently;
Demonstrates sound knowledge of therapeutic communication and counseling with a clear ability to apply that knowledge to practice;
Demonstrates ability to provide effective services to clients/patients in both English and French preferred.
Possesses capacity to safely and effectively carry out all essential duties and responsibilities of the position.
NB: All
other factors being equal preference
may be given to the following candidates:
Current
relevant nursing experience in a Mental Health and/or Addictions setting;
Current
certification and/or experience in the use of telemedicine (OTN) equipment;
Current
certification in Concurrent Disorders (Mental Health and Addiction)
CPI or
equivalent Certificate of Completion: Non-Violent Crisis Intervention;
Individuals
who identify as Indigenous, First Nations or Métis; Métis who have a solid
working knowledge traditional healing practices, and have a working knowledge
of Cree, Ojibway, or Oji-Cree languages
Individuals
who are fluent in and able to work in both official languages (English and
French)
Individuals
who have lived experience with
mental health and/or substance use disorders and has been in the maintenance
stage of uninterrupted recovery for 2 years or more
Wages and Benefits: Full-time wages start at $29.69/hr. and increase
yearly up to $31.59/hr., evening and night shift premiums $1.0 and $1.40hr.
Benefits include a competitive vacation entitlement based on years of service, 12
statutory holidays/yr. and 6 paid special leave days/yr. and up to 20 paid sick
leave days/yr. Group benefits package includes: extended health care, vision
care and prescription dugs, dental benefits, life insurance plan and group RRSP
Pension Plan, reimbursement of annual CNO registration. Part-time
employees receive 17% of their regular hourly rate in lieu of benefits.
Other:
