Salary Range: $20,000 - $40,000

The Timmins and District Hospital is currently seeking Summer Student applications for the following position: 

 The IT team at TADH consists of professionals who are highly collaborative and thrive in a fast-paced environment. They adapt to our ever-changing environment and when presented with challenges, they view them as possibilities. They work to improve processes and increase efficiencies while striving for excellence in everything that they do.

 

We are seeking a reliable, committed and enthusiastic IT summer student to work as a support to our IT department. The IT summer student will support the team while gaining experience and knowledge in a variety of related tasks. Every day will be different for our IT summer student. They will offer desktop support, configure physical IT assets, process user accounts, and apply security settings such as file permissions to IT resources. Furthermore, they will have the opportunity to write scripts, create workflows to automate tasks, and assist team members with operational projects and enhancements. This is a term position starting in May 2024 and finishing in August 2024.

 

Position Responsibilities:

·       Install and configure software and computer systems.

·       Troubleshoot and resolve issues with software or hardware.

·       Walk colleagues or clients through steps to help them resolve their technical problems.

·       Maintain procedures and reports that provide technical support to the entire organization.

·       Analyze records and logs to spot underlying trends and potential issues.

·       Establish accounts for new users and assist with password or login problems.

·        

Position Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in a University Computer Science Program or related in IT and returning to Computer Science studies in the fall of 2024
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Working knowledge of computer hardware components such as laptops, desktops, printers, networking, and peripherals
  • Experience navigating computer networks and security settings
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Self-motivation, be a team players and action-and-results oriented
  • Good organization and reporting skills
  • Ability to successfully work under tight project deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to work independently
  • Although the role is primarily 8 to 4 pm weekdays, occasional evening and weekend work will be required to address emerging client issues or roll-out new projects
  • Bilingualism (French and English) would be considered an asset
