POSITION SUMMARY
Omushkego Education is seeking a passionate and experienced educator to support and lead special education programming and learning assessments across the Omushkego communities. The successful candidate will guide inclusive practices grounded in cultural values, support educators in meeting diverse student needs, and help design effective student-centred assessments that support learning and growth.
REQUIREMENTS
· A degree in Education, Special Education, Education Psychology, or a related field
· Specialized training or certification in special education is preferred
· Experience in student assessment practices, including early learning, literacy, and numeracy assessments
· Demonstrated experience supporting students with exceptionalities in culturally and linguistically diverse settings
· Deep understanding of inclusive, strengths-based, and trauma-informed practices
· knowledge of Omushkego language, culture, and community contexts is a strong asset
· excellent communication and collaboration skills
· valid driver’s license and ability to travel extensively to Omushkego Education partner communities
· strong commitment to educational equity, student success, and Indigenous self-determination in education
· experience working in Indigenous communities or schools
· passion for language revitalization and land-based learning as part of student support
· ability to work in a team environment while also being self-directed
