POSITION SUMMARY
Under the immediate supervision of the Chief Executive Officer and functional direction of the Regional Justice Committee, the Director of Justice Services shall provide strategic direction, leadership, advice and management support to Mushkegowuk First Nations and Mushkegowuk Council on justice policy, services and program development. The DOJS will be responsible for the development, coordination and implementation of a regional justice strategy and other related justice mandates, including expansion of culturally appropriate justice systems and programs. They will work closely with the federal and provincial governments, as well as other stakeholders responsible for community safety and justice services.
REQUIREMENTS
- Relevant post-secondary education equivalent to a college diploma or an undergraduate or post-graduate degree.
- Minimum five years of experience working with First Nations on justice related issues, or equivalent.
- Knowledge of the Mushkegowuk First Nations culture, history, values and expectations.
- Good working knowledge of relevant provincial and federal justice legislation, policies, and programs.
- Strong critical thinking skills are required.
- Excellent research, writing, and presentation skills.
- Experience in facilitating discussion groups and providing public presentations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft software.
- Effective proposal writing and follow up reporting requirements.
- Ability to work under strict deadlines and in stressful situations.
- Fluency in the Cree language is an asset.
- Must be willing to travel to Mushkegowuk Communities and work various hours
- Full Class G License
