Northern College is seeking a Financial Aid Officer/Student Life Advisor in our Student Services department. The successful candidate will be well-organized and have exceptional communication, record-keeping, and time-management skills. In addition, the incumbent must possess effective oral and verbal communication skills. Knowledge of community, support agencies preferred.

Reporting to the Campus Manager, Kirkland Lake, the successful candidate will be responsible to administer the Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) from the initial application to the distribution of funds to qualified applicants, to reviews/appeals. As well as the administration and reporting of Bursary programs.
With regards to student life, the candidate advises and provides ongoing leadership and guidance to the student body including the Northern College Student Association (NCSA), and the Student Executive Council (SEC). What you will be doing:
- Advise and guide students through the application process required for all Government sponsored financial assistance programs such as the Canada Student Loan and Ontario Student Loan;
- Ensure that the policies and procedures for all Government loan/assistance programs are followed;
- Provide a referral service for students who may benefit from internal and external student support services (Advising services, tutoring, etc.);
- Responsible for crisis response and intervention for academic and non-academic situations on campus; and
- Promote and coordinate the Tuition Set-Aside Fund Employment opportunities.

What you will need to be considered:
- 3-year diploma in Business, Administration, Accounting, Social Services/Phycology or related/ relevant field of study;
- Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience including dealing with public, students and staff to solve problems and conflicts. As well as experience with financial programs and record management, and office computer programs.
