Position Summary
Under the direction of the Aquatic Supervisor, perform janitorial and water treatment duties at but not limited to the Archie Dillon Sportsplex Pool.
Duties
• Clean and disinfect all common areas, including washrooms, locker/change rooms, showers, hallways and the lobby
• Perform chemical analysis of water on a daily basis making adjustments when needed
• Add the appropriate chemicals to pool in the case of emergencies
• Ensure accurate completion of daily operational logs as per Ministry of Health and City protocols
• Provide support for minor plumbing maintenance related to filtration and chemical injection systems
• Pressure-wash deck areas, walls, and other hard surfaces regularly
• Manually vacuum the pool basin as required
• Assist with circulation system maintenance, including pump priming, valve adjustments, and flow monitoring
• Ensure all entrances and exits are clear (seasonal)
• Conduct and complete daily building safety and equipment inspections and report any hazards as identified
• Provide support for pool programming and special events including setup, takedown, and operational assistance
• Required to participate and support the City of Timmins Continuous Improvement Program in order to help foster a culture of operational excellence
Qualifications
• Grade 12 diploma
• Knowledge of Class A pool regulatory compliance and operational best practices
• Knowledge of the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care – Regulation 565
• Knowledge of water disinfection and water balance
• Knowledge in areas of water safety as well as chemical handling and storage
• Janitorial related experience (an asset)
• Familiar with the basics of plumbing systems
• Certified Pool Aquatic Technician Designation or Pool Operator Course (an asset)
• Current WHMIS certificate (an asset)
• Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening
