Quality and Patient Safety Manager

Timmins and District Hospital

Full-Time • Timmins Region

POSITION SUMMARY: Reporting to the Director of Clinical Services, the Manager will provide leadership for Quality and Patient Safety. The candidate will provide internal expertise, leadership and oversight for leading the planning, development and execution of functions in the areas of Quality and Patient Safety. 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Assures the organizational approach that is focused and facilitates team collaboration within and Interprofessional Model of Care
  • Develops in collaboration with managers, directors and other organizations the annual operating and capital budget submissions as it relates to patient safety and other quality workload measures and key performance indicators.
  • Assists with the development of new or expanded programs and services.
  • Sets the appropriate context for the programs by translating corporate strategic directions and objectives into program specific goals and objectives.
  • Establishes and maintains external and internal partnerships and linkages
  • Works with all relevant parties to develop, improve performance, clinical outcomes and patient experience through the annual Quality Improvement Plan and the Community Quality Improvement Plan.
  • Directs the thorough investigation of adverse events, patient incidents and supports the identification of trends and learnings for the organization.
  • Participates with personnel in the development of written philosophy, objectives, standards compatible with the visions, values and mission of the Corporation.
  • Promotes ways to solve problems and make improvements in the delivery of patient care through Quality-of-Care reviews.
  • Liaison with partner hospitals and external organizations such as professional colleges, RNAO, HQO, HIROC and more.
  • Participate in the on-call responsibilities for the organization as assigned
  • Participates in patient safety initiatives and takes action to address unsafe conditions and procedures.
  • Experience in education and mentorship in the clinical setting considered an asset.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Bachelors prepared in relevant fields with Masters preferred.
  • Registration in good standing from the healthcare regulatory college representing their profession.
  • Minimum 3 years leadership experience with management experience preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years hospital experience with relevant program(s) in hospital setting where there is demonstrated ability in managing the interpersonal and fiscal challenges of a highly demanding clinical setting.
  • Experience in Quality and Safety within an acute care hospital setting.
  • Experience in LEAN philosophy and have a proven track record of generating continuous quality improvement
  • Strong communication and team building skills and use them successfully to motivate and engage staff.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Employer responsibilities in accordance with the applicable collective agreements.

Compensation and Benefits 

·       Rate of Pay: To be determined, based on experience and certification

·       Option to enroll in Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan.
