Under the immediate supervision of the Facilities Supervisor, perform any combination of the following duties:
Duties
• Assist contractors in performing general maintenance (City buildings, parks, playgrounds, sports fields).
• Perform a full range of carpentry tasks including framing, finish carpentry, drywall installation etc.
• Perform any maintenance related duties involving building envelope, doors/windows and related hardware.
• Perform preventative maintenance work.
• Assist in event setup and tear down.
• Perform physically demanding indoor and outdoor work in all types of weather.
• Complete log books and maintenance records as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
• Demonstrated ability in the use of hand, electrical and shop tools.
• Demonstrated ability in full range of carpentry repairs/installations.
• Valid Ontario Driver’s Licence – Class “G”.
• Effective communication skills –oral and written.
• Experience working with concrete and performing concrete repairs.
• Experience with repairs/replacement of building hardware and architectural products.
• Experience with installing various types of flooring.
• Experience working with various building exterior finishes (vinyl, metal, masonry, roofing, doors, windows, frames, etc.).
• Experience with installing, painting, taping and filling drywall.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work in all types of weather conditions.
• Ability to read/interpret blueprints/technical drawings.
