POSITION SUMMARY
The Cree Geomatics Department is for the benefit of all the Mushkegowuk Council departments and our member First Nation’s programs that can use GIS technology and Information Management. Under the supervision of the Director and as a member of Cree Geomatics team, the incumbent will support the development of programming and services.
The incumbent’s thorough experience and/or knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS is essential for this position as is a knowledge of Information Management. Communication and presentation skills and the ability to speak Cree are considered an asset as the incumbent will be interacting and supporting our member First Nation communities.
The primary duties will include presentation development and delivery, data management, and travel to Mushkegowuk communities to give support. Secondary duties will include providing supportive mapping data and analysis upon request, and other projects related to comprehensive planning and resource activities.
REQUIREMENTS
· Thorough knowledge of ESRI GIS software and technology related to GIS
· Knowledge and skill using computer hardware, software and printers
· Organizational and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, writing skills for documentation, presentations
· Ability to speak Cree is considered a valuable asset
· Willingness to travel to Mushkegowuk First Nations to provide GIS support
· Knowledge of the culture of First Nations, along with an understanding of their aspirations, socio-economic needs, stewardship values, and history
· Have a valid (class G) Ontario driver’s licence
· A strong desire to develop a working knowledge of land and resource issues affecting First Nations
· Ability to work as part of a team, and communicate effectively with a diversity of people including First Nation staff and members
