POSITION SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Community Engagement Coordinator, The Community Engagement Assistant is responsible for providing support and assistance to the Lands & Resources Department. This position will assist in the coordination of all community engagement meetings, sessions, and initiatives as required to inform community members our project.
REQUIREMENTS
- Post-Secondary Education in a related field, or an equivalent combination of experience and education
- Experience in program management
- Excellent interpersonal, communication (oral and written) and computer skills
- Ability to speak Mushkegowuk (Cree) would be considered a strong asset
- Proven organizational and information management skills
- Ability to understand, synthesize and communicate complex technical reports and other documentation
- Knowledge of the culture of the relevant First Nations, along with an understanding of their aspirations, and history
- Ability to work as part of a team and communicate effectively with a diversity of people including First Nations staff and members, as well as professional consultants, government representatives
- Highly self-motivated individual who can take initiative and follow through to completion
- Must be able to multi-task, with strong time management, leadership, program management and problem-solving skills
- Must be willing to travel and work various hours
- A valid Ontario driver’s license is required
