Timmins and Area Women in Crisis (TAWC) is a dynamic, community-based feminist organization providing services related to intimate partner abuse and sexual violence to women and their children in the Timmins area. TAWC works within an integrated feminist, anti-racist, anti-oppression framework. The agency administers a sexual assault centre, an emergency shelter as well as second stage housing to abused women and their children.
TAWC is currently looking for an innovative woman to join our team in the capacity of Next Steps Project Lead.
Main Responsibilities:
· Lead the completion of a regional needs assessment focused on systemic barriers to women’s economic security and prosperity in male-dominated fields (non-profit leadership, natural resource sector, skilled trades).
· Develop and conduct focus groups, interviews, and other community engagement activities, including outreach to rural and remote communities.
· Work with women with lived experience to ensure their voices inform the needs assessment and tool development; provide honoraria to participants.
· Conduct research on existing hub models that support systemic change and economic security for women.
· Lead the development of a plan for an Empowerment Hub based on needs assessment findings and research.
· Collaborate with the Systems Advocate and other partners to co-develop tools and training resources to address systemic barriers to women’s meaningful employment.
· Support the development of mentorship and training programs tailored to women in male-dominated sectors.
· Ensure data collection and evaluation processes align with the external evaluation plan.
· Ensure proper processes and protocols are implemented throughout the assessment and hub planning components.
Qualifications:
· Experience in research, community consultation, or needs assessment processes.
· Experience working with women, including those from diverse and marginalized communities.
· Gender-based violence training and relevant experience preferred.
· Degree or diploma in social services, research, or a related field is an asset.
· Strong organizational, research, and facilitation skills.
· Flexible work availability.
· Valid Class G driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage.
· Ability to travel throughout the region to connect with women living in remote and rural communities.
Hours of Work: 35 hours per week
