Timmins and Area Women in Crisis (TAWC) is a dynamic, community-based feminist organization providing services related to intimate partner abuse and sexual violence to women and their children in the Timmins area. TAWC works within an integrated feminist, anti-racist, anti-oppression framework. The agency administers a sexual assault centre, an emergency shelter as well as second stage housing to abused women and their children.
TAWC is currently looking for an innovative woman to join our team in the capacity of Systems Advocate.
Main Responsibilities:
· Develop and implement strategies to engage employers and institutions to remove systemic barriers to women’s participation in male-dominated fields (non-profit leadership, natural resource sector, skilled trades).
· Promote implementing inclusive workplace policies, practices, and attitudes within the three priority sectors.
· Promote an organizational culture of inclusion, respect, and increased leadership opportunities for women.
· Engage northern communities to address harmful attitudes and barriers to diverse women, including those identifying as 2SLGBTQIA+.
· Identify and work with employer “champions” to advance project goals.
· Collaborate with the Next Steps Project Lead to develop tools and resources that address systemic barriers to women’s meaningful employment.
· Support the development of mentorship and training programs tailored to women in male-dominated sectors.
· Ensure proper processes and protocols are implemented throughout the advocacy and employer engagement components.
· Represent TAWC and the project professionally in all community, employer, and sector-based engagements.
Qualifications:
· Experience in advocacy, community engagement, or working with employers to promote workplace inclusion.
· Gender-based violence training and relevant experience preferred.
· Degree or diploma in social services, human resources, or a related field is an asset.
· Strong communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
· Flexible work availability.
· Valid Class G driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage.
· Ability to travel throughout the region to connect with women living in remote and rural communities.
Hours of Work: 35 hours per week
