POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direct supervision of the Restorative Justice Coordinator, the Restorative Justice Liaison Worker shall be responsible for assisting the RJ Coordinator in promoting and delivering a culturally relevant Pre-charge/Post-charge Diversion Restorative Justice Program for First Nation adults and youth. Through active participation and engagement of First Nation members, the Restorative Justice Liaison Worker will assist in the coordination and development of solutions and recommendations that meet the needs of the respective communities. The Liaison Worker will assist in educating and creating an awareness for a greater understanding of a culturally relevant restorative justice at the community level. Performs other related duties as required.
REQUIREMENTS
· Post Secondary Diploma or Degree in either Paralegal, Social Sciences, Mental Health or a combination of work experience and education in a relevant field
· Experience and knowledge of Aboriginal issues and the current legal system
· Knowledge of the Mushkegowuk traditional history and lifestyles
· Excellent oral communications skills, presentation and listening skills
· Must possess a genuine interest in seeing the youth develop and succeed
· Must be assertive
· Excellent writing and reporting skills
· Must possess a high level of professionalism and discretion
· Ability to work under minimal supervision
· Ability to communicate in the Cree language will be considered an asset
· A valid CPIC is and proof of full covid-19 vaccination required
