POSITION SUMMARY
The Cultural Wellness Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supporting the delivery of culturally rooted wellness services across the region. Reporting to the Health Director and overseeing the work of the Cultural Wellness Team, this role strengthens access to traditional healing through collaboration with Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and community wellness teams. The coordinator ensures services are delivered in a culturally safe, trauma-informed, and community-led manner that reflects the diversity of Indigenous teachings, ceremonies, and healing practices.
REQUIREMENTS
· Diploma in a relevant social or community field, or a minimum of five years of experience in a traditional and cultural wellness role.
· Lived experience or personal connection to traditional healing is a strong asset.
· Strong understanding of Indigenous cultures, with a preference for Mushkegowuk Cree knowledge systems.
· Respect for the diversity of Indigenous teachings and the ability to navigate multiple knowledge systems with cultural humility.
· Experience working with Elders, Traditional Healers, and Indigenous communities in a relationship- centered and respectful manner.
· Demonstrated ability to apply trauma-informed, strengths-based, and culturally safe practices.
· Experience supervising cultural or wellness-based teams is an asset.
· Skilled in communication, including report writing, documentation, and data tracking.
· Familiarity with the impacts of colonization, intergenerational trauma, and Indigenous healing pathways.
· Experience with budget tracking, program reporting, and funding proposal support.
· Cree language fluency is an asset.
· Valid driver’s license and ability to travel regularly across the region.
