POSITION SUMMARY
The Mental Wellness Capacity Building Lead supports the development of a culturally grounded, trauma-informed mental wellness workforce across the Mushkegowuk region. This role leads the design and delivery of both traditional and non-traditional training, fosters strong partnerships with communities, Elders, and service providers, and helps align services through a regional, Indigenous-led approach. With a focus on healing, capacity-building, and collaboration, the Lead plays a key role in advancing mental wellness for individuals, families, and communities. Regular travel is required.
REQUIREMENTS
· A Degree or Diploma in social work, health promotion, psychology, Indigenous studies, or a related field, or equivalent lived experience.
· Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in Indigenous health, mental wellness, or community-based programming.
· Experience coordinating training or capacity-building initiatives is an asset.
· Experience working with Indigenous communities and knowledge of traditional wellness approaches are essential.
· Strong facilitation and communication skills.
· Knowledge of Indigenous healing approaches, intergenerational trauma, and mental wellness.
· Experience with culturally safe, trauma-informed models
· Knowledge of Mushkegowuk Cree culture and language is an asset.
· Familiarity with NIHB, Jordan’s Principle, and Indigenous health governance is an asset.
· Valid driver’s license and ability to travel regularly across the region.
· Ability to speak Cree will be considered an asset
